Sensei Fulvio

Fulvio Mateo has trained extensively as an uchi deshi (live-in student) at the renowned New York Aikikai under the direct guidance of Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, one of the most respected senior students of Aikido Founder Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei).
In addition to his intensive uchi deshi training, Fulvio developed a close personal relationship with Yamada Sensei, frequently serving as otomo during seminars, international trips, and summer camps. He also helped support and strengthen the international Aikido community through his work with New York Aikikai and as a liaison between Sansuikai Latin America, New York Aikikai, and Yamada Sensei.
Fulvio earned his Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) during the 2018 Christmas Seminar and was promoted to Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) and Fukushidoin (Certified Assistant Instructor) at the 2024 Christmas Seminar, continuing the authentic Aikikai lineage passed down from O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba.
For Fulvio, Aikido is far more than a martial art—it is a lifelong path of discipline, harmony, mindfulness, and personal growth. His teaching style combines traditional Aikido principles with practical application, helping students develop effective self-defense skills, strong ukemi, fluid movement, awareness, and mental resilience. His classes emphasize precise technique, blending, timing, and real-world adaptability while honoring the deeper philosophical values of Budo.
At Shoshinkan Aikido in Las Vegas, Fulvio fosters a welcoming and supportive dojo environment where students of all ages and experience levels can improve physical fitness, confidence, focus, and community connection through consistent martial arts practice.
Fulvio regularly hosts seminars, guest instructors, and special training events that encourage continued learning and connection with the global Aikido community. He remains deeply committed to preserving the traditional spirit of Aikido while making its benefits accessible and meaningful for modern students
